Official Counter: Tom Delaney

Observers: Amy Maurer, Chuck Carlson, David Wiedner, Judd Nathan,
Mark Timmerman, Nikko Gagnon, Nora Hanke, Tom Momeyer

Visitors:
Tom Delaney was the official counter today and provided this report.

63 visitors. It's amazing how knowledgeable and interested our visitors
are. It's rewarding to talk with them and share their excitement.
A group of 120 students had planned to come. The ever dependable Nikko was
poised to greet them, but only six made it to the platform!

Weather:
A moderate day, starting out at 34 F and warming up to 48 F. Wind was from
the NE and was light and diminishing towards the end of the day. Visibility
good, but lots of blue sky for most of the day with some clouds inching in
from the south from an ocean storm. Some high thin wispy clouds helped a
bit.

Raptor Observations:
Red-shouldered hawk 15 minutes after start time was a promising start to
the day, followed by a couple of early sharpies. First couple of hours were
strongest for migration, with 11 and 13 birds in consecutive hours,
red-shouldered and red-tailed leading the way. One male gray ghost harrier
came in hour two, then the count slowed to 1-3 birds per hour.

Non-raptor Observations:
Common Loon - 1
Pine Siskin - 16
Crows migrating - 56
Canada Goose - 46
American Herring Gull - 1
Double-crested Cormorant - 1
Monarch - 1/845 (late)

Predictions:
A little warmer and cloudier, with temps in the mid 50s and a N wind up to
12 mph. Could be a good day for diversity, and maybe a golden!
