Bake Oven Knob 2 miles North of Germansville, Pennsylvania, USA Daily Raptor Counts: Oct 21, 2026 -------------------------------------------------------------------
Observation start time: 07:30:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 6.5 hours
Official Counter: Andre Vu
Observers: Gabi Grafenberg, Skylar
Visitors: No visitors at the north lookout, but I did run into a little girl Skyler and her grandfather, as well as Gabi Grafenberg at the south lookout hawkwatching! It was fun hanging out with them for a bit.
Weather: 48-62 degrees F, clear skies, light north wind that tapered off.
Raptor Observations: Seemed like a good turkey vulture movement today, but they never appeared at the same time to get a good count for our protocol. Raptors started on the north side of the ridge today and then switched to being all over, often following the southbound flight line from yesterday.
Non-raptor Observations: Purple finches and siskins continue pushing through, along with flocks of robins and tree swallows. Juncos, a blackpoll, yellow rumps, and a hermit thrush bouncing around the lookout.
Predictions: Clear weather continues with a high of 65. Slightly stronger NNW wind will hopefully get things going again. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Lehigh Gap Nature Center (<mail...>) Bake Oven Knob information may be found at: www.lgnc.org
