On Weds the 21st, a bright-looking Grace's Warbler was at Larsen Field in San Ysidro, which is right across the street from the outlet mall. It was drinking from a puddle in a walkway next to the rec center building--where there also happens to be a number of pines, which may or may not be to its liking. By date, it could still be a late-ish migrant rather than a bird necessarily settled in for the winter. A late-season Virginia's Warbler was in southern Coronado Cays. Near the corner of Port of Spain X Trinidad Bend there is a paved walkway through a mini "greenbelt," and the warbler was there, loosely associated with some white-eyes and Orange-crowned & Townsend's. It could easily also go out into the neighborhood and be very difficult to re-find. Given the late date for this species, there is a small chance the bird might winter locally. Also this morning, there was a new Tropical Kingbird in the interior section of Camp Surf and a new Palm Warbler was at Howard Lane Park in nw. San Ysidro--the 7th Palm in the county this month.
