I have a question of you experts about Harris Sparrows. I love the Harris sparrows that I hear and/or see for a day or two in the spring, and again in the fall as they pass through. I've been hearing them for at least 5 days now. At dusk you'd think my treebelt was full of them for all the noise they were making. Merlin says I was only hearing Harris Sparrows. Maybe I just haven't spent that much time listening for birds at dusk...after the sun was down. But one minute they were singing to beat the band, and the next minute all was quiet. Is this unique to Harris, or do other sparrows/species do this? I don't mean the pre-sunset burst of feeding activity; I mean the chorus.
