Subject: Migrants today
Hi All.
In the last two days, with the passing of a strong cold front, Chimney
Swifts have essentially departed from the City of Raleigh and the season's
first White-throated Sparrow and Ruby-crowned Kinglet arrived in my yard.

This morning witnessed something much more curious- a Double-crested
Cormorant stopping traffic as it sat in the middle of Clark Avenue near the
NCSU campus. I got out of the car to walk up and assess the situation-
fortunately it was able to run while flapping its wings and eventually
achieved take-off. Have no idea how or why that water bird was there- no
body of water anywhere near there.
