Observers: John Weeks

Visitors:
Doreen and Len Oshinskie; it was a pleasure to enjoy warm conversation with
them on this first frigid day of the fall watch. Doreen told me about a
Connecticut destination, Weir Farm National Historical Park, which
preserves the home and studio of the impressionist J. Alden Weir. Chris and
I will definitely set aside a day for a visit. Len just passed the
(rigorous!) course leading to certification as a Master Gardener.
Congratulations, Len!

Weather:
Nearly overcast all watch (CLCV 90-95%). Wind NNW 3-12 mph. Temperature
44-46 F. Squalls of virga visible from time to time north of Blueberry
Hill; no precipitation on the Hill itself.

Raptor Observations:
Still wringing some Turkey Vultures from the northeast; one group of 12
seen. Not counted as migrants: immature Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk.
Non-raptor Observations:
Canada Geese (37), Blue Jays (3), American Crows (8), Black-capped
Chickadee, Purple Finches (2), American Goldfinch, Savannah Sparrow, Palm
Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warblers (29; an undercount for sure, since many
small, unidentified passerines flew over silently).
