Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Stonewall Mine irruptions continue
I'm late to the montane irruption party, but made it out to Cuyamaca today and was treated to huge numbers of irrupting species continuing around the mine - at least 10 flyover Red Crossbills heading south towards Stonewall peak, 8 Pinyon Jays, and huge numbers of nutcrackers. I estimated at least 60 nutcrackers, with 50+ of them in one group, all moving around and foraging on the hill that the mine sits on (so many nutcrackers that a merlin was actively trying to grab one from out of the group for several minutes). At least one of the Zone-tailed hawks also continues.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
