Hi all,
Julie Rose and I got to Bear Creek redwoods open space this morning before the parking lot filled. Our goal was to find Varied Thrush. We took the trail up the hill across the road and about a half a mile up we stopped for a group of mobbing birds. Our patience paid off and at 9:30 am we eventually found a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL sitting high above. The attached cell phone photo shows the “baked potato” sitting on the branch to the right of the truck.
