- Comments: "Brief views at 9:18 AM of the bird spotted by Ann, perched at the top of a pine tree before flying toward the western hills. Then again at 10:16 AM, Reef first called out the vocalization as it flew into a nearby tree, but it wasn't seen again during my stay. -PoorPoor resolution images of the bird in flight."
Red Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra) (1)

- Comments: "Perched high in a tall lace-lichen-covered Pine Tree across from campsite #18.
In spite of unfavorable lighting, the crossed bill shape was clearly discernible in profile. In flight the color appeared to be red."

Red Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra) (7) CONFIRMED
- Reported Oct 15, 2026 08:08 by Herb Elliott
- Islay Creek Campground--Montana de Oro SP, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8838502&<ll...>,-120.8838502 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S402638754 - Media: 9 Photos
- Comments: "Several groups of crossbills moved through the area during my stay; the most I saw at any single time was 7. Very likely there were more. — 2 adult males brick-red with unbarred dark wings and diagnostic crossed bills, and 5 females/immatures olive-yellow same bill structure and wing pattern. All birds showed large crossed mandibles and lack of wingbars, foraging in pines and giving distinctive jip-jip flight calls."
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle x Audubon's) (Setophaga coronata coronata x auduboni) (2)
- Reported Oct 15, 2026 07:16 by Kilian Hampl
- Pismo SB--Oceano Campground, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6265268&<ll...>,-120.6265268 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S402643286 - Comments: "*Uncommon, FOS. Two similar-looking individuals together on the maintenance road. Both birds appeared most like Myrtle YRWA, but one bird had a rather weak supercillium and a small yellow wash in the center of the throat. The other bird was similar but lacked a supercillium entirely and had a larger yellow splotch in the center of the throat. No vocalizations were heard from either individual. Both birds were seen reasonably well but were back further in the willows and actively foraging, and as a result I was not able to get any photos."
