Date: 10/16/26 9:09 am From: Cynthia Ehlinger via CTBirds <ctbirds...> Subject: [CT Birds] Banding data for Wood thrush request
This request related to Wood Thrush banding came in to the COA contact
email. Please reply directly to Maddie if you have relevant information.
Dear Connecticut Ornithological Association,
I’m Maddie Sutton, a current postdoc in the Yanco Lab at the Smithsonian
Migratory Bird Center. We are compiling banding data for a collaborative
project examining patterns in Wood Thrush demography across their range.
We are looking for historical or ongoing Wood Thrush capture records,
including recaptures. Useful information may include band number, capture
date and location, age and sex, morphometric measurements, and relevant
details about sampling effort. We would be interested in hearing from you
even if your dataset is small, covers only a few years, or is not yet in a
standardized format.
At this stage, we are simply trying to identify potentially relevant
datasets. You do not need to prepare or transfer any data yet. We will
discuss data use, permissions, attribution, and opportunities for
collaboration before proceeding.
More information about the project is available here: Wood Thrush project
overview.
If you may have relevant data, please reply with a brief description of:
The location and years covered
The approximate number of Wood Thrush captures and recaptures
The types of information recorded
Any restrictions or considerations associated with the data
Please also feel free to forward this message to other banders or station
coordinators who might be interested. We would be grateful for your help in
building a geographically comprehensive picture of Wood Thrush demography.
Thank you for considering this request. You can contact me at (SuttonM[at]
si.edu) if you are interested or have any questions.
Thank you!
