Observers:

Visitors:
41, with 2 recognizing me from a prior visit. One lady told me she still
has her copy of the hawk ID cheat sheet I handed out to her last year. I
told her surely it is now nicely framed and hanging prominently in her
living room. She answered affirmatively, if not honestly.

Weather:
Close to ideal conditions, clear skies with scattered high thin clouds;
steady light and moderate NW and WNW winds; mild, 47 - 58 F.

Raptor Observations:
Data from 3 nearby hawk watches from the past 3 years shows a second peak
flight for Sharp-shinned Hawk on the the 15th and 16th of October. Today's
12 is a good count but not high enough to be a real peak. Let's see if
Pack reached a good count for Sharp-shins today. I need 17 more Sharp-shins
to set a new season high count, this could go down to the wire.
Overall a good count with 9 species showing and something counted during
each of the 7 hours. The onset of Red-tailed Hawk migration was evident,
with the peak still 2 weeks away.

Non-raptor Observations:
188 Canada Geese in 3 flocks, 36 Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a Monarch,
last one?

Predictions:
Rain tomorrow, skip the weekend, and Tuesday looks like the next good day.
