observation time: 5.75 hours

Official Counter: Craig Jackson

Observers: Jack Miano

Visitors:
Cayman and Jorge Zelaya, Harrison Chen, and She Tan stopped to talk with me
about Pinnacle Rock and its migrating raptors

Weather:
Light (1-2) NW winds throughout watch, with a maximum gust od 12 km/hr.
Cloud cover -- 100% stratus clouds after yesterday's rain began to break up
around 9:30. Some cumulus clouds began to form, but except for a brief
period were never anything but scattered cumulus covering about 15% of the
sky. Temperature -- 10-15 C

Raptor Observations:
Small movement of raptors almost all very distant , but picked out by Jack
with his "magic binoculars." Non-migrating -- three TV's did not seem to
be on the move

Non-raptor Observations:
Birds -- 2 CAGO, 1 E. Phoebe, 5 Tree Swallows!, and 3 DE Juncos -- my first
of this fall on the Rock

Predictions:
Rain is predicted for tomorrow, but westerly winds increasing in strength
are predicted for Wednesday. These strong winds may bring raptors our way
after the rain, but unfortunately I have an eye doctor's appointment in the
morning so will not be able to be present until the afternoon if at all.
The westerly winds are predicted to change to northwest and still be fairly
strong on Thursday, so that might also be a good day. If anybody can cover
the Rock on Wednesday, I would appreciate it.
