Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 14:30:00 Total observation time: 6.5 hours
Official Counter: Jen Lee
Observers: Diane Stewart
Visitors: Couple leaf peepers, a few asked what we were seeing. One fellow suggested we look out for Condors.
Weather: Thick clouds just above towers for first 3 hrs. In/out of lower whispy clouds at watch. 8-10 mph NW winds all morning, a little less afternoon. Mid 60s. First bigger openings of blue sky not until 1:30.
Raptor Observations: First bird Red-shouldered (8:26am). Sharpies were first spotted slipping out of the clouds for short views. I'm sure we missed a bunch that stayed in the clouds. Small movement of Balds later.
Non-raptor Observations: 4 late Monarchs, a murder of Am. Crows, a conspiracy of Ravens (9 at one point), c.wren, downy, bluejay, goldfinch, cardinals. Towhee, w.th.sparrow, flicker, wb.nuthatch, chimney swift, tree swallows, modos, cedar waxwings. Sadly, no flamboyance of Flamingoes. Multiple Redtails, TVs, BVs, not counted. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Darrell Smith (<oleagleye...>)
