Subject: [NHBirds] Rodenticides and Raptors
For those not aware, rodenticides are poisoning an increasing number of
raptors--many are not surviving. Wings of Dawn Rehabilitation Center in
Henniker recently treated 2 Red-tailed Hawks with severe rodenticide
poisoning -both died. In 2025, Wings of Dawn, had 68 animals treated for
rodenticide poisoning including: 14 Barred Owls, 40 hawks of varied species
and 4 Bald Eagles, Of the 68 animals- only 5 survived. So this is a major
ecological problem in NH and around the country.

A group of wildlife conservationists, naturalists and biologists formed
Rodenticide Free NH. Our mission is to educate people/businesses about the
ecological impacts of rodenticides and the non-toxic rodent control
options. Pest companies promote rodenticides over non-toxic methods because
it is easier and they make more money on monthly contracts.. The number of
bait boxes with rodenticides has proliferated.

Please get the message out to those using rodenticides and you can refer
them to our website for more information. Thank you.
