My friend, Cathy Peterson, who lives just north of Cathedral Oaks (south of Lauro Canyon Reservoir), just called me to report the astounding news that a Golden-winged Warbler landed in her shallow bird bath and bathed at about 6 pm tonight for a few minutes. She was looking out her kitchen window at a shallow dish with water she had just scrubbed and filled. She described the major field marks perfectly. In fact, she spent several hours yesterday unsuccessfully trying to see the warbler at the Garden. So unbelievable. The bird came to her!!
So, it appears quite doubtful that anyone will find this bird at the Garden after today. Cathy lives about 2 miles west and slightly south of the Botanic Garden.
