Birders,
Judging from the eBird review queue, Tropical Storm Rachel has brought some interesting birds to Imperial County (eg. Least and Wedge-rumped Storm-Petrels, Elegant Terns,Least Tern, large numbers of Black Terns, etc.) and San Diego County (e.g. from-shore Buller's Shearwater, etc.). As usual, there hasn't been a single post to the listservs about storm-related birds in these counties, and virtually nothing from anywhere else in southern California (or Arizona). PLEASE consider posting storm-related sightings on the listservs in addition to the various other chat venues.
As for Los Angeles County, though hard to imagine it was storm-blown, the Scheels and Naresh Satyan had a likely adult White Ibis flying northeast from the Lake Palmdale area within the past hour or so. They're going to check for it at Piute Ponds and other potential sites. My check of Lake Palmdale in strong south winds (from vantage points at the Park and Ride and Barrel Springs Rd.) earlier this morning yielded nothing beyond the expected birds that would have been there with or without a storm.
KImball Garrett Juniper Hills, CA (0.35" rain from this storm, and no avian waifs)
