There ended up being five golden-plovers in a flock of 74 BBPL that were flying in a tight flock over the ocean but they did not land in view. The surf was tumultuous and this may have been another reason they were skittish today at high tide.
One of them is the continuing American, same bird first found here on the 2nd and again by Roger on the 7th. It has a distinctive underpart pattern with a darker chest contrasting with a paler abdomen. The breast is all I manged to get photos of before they all bolted. Three identified Pacifics and the fourth one a sp.
Will post photos in a bit.
The hybrid oystercatcher continues at Laguna Pt and there were 3-4 Gadwall in Lake Cleone. A couple of duck flocks also flew south over the ocean.
This evening south of Ft Bragg about 510 Cackling Geese flew over in three flocks. Get ready for a flight day tomorrow and listen for them tonight. It's great to be able to see again after a week in the pea soup.
Cheers, Peter
