Observation start time: 08:15:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total
observation time: 7.75 hours

Official Counter: Craig Jackson

Observers: Ben Shamgochian

Weather:
Moderate (2) WNW shifted to the NW at 11 AM and became stronger (3) with
wind gusts as high as 28 km/hr and in the 20's most of the afternoon.
Cloud cover was 2% (mostly stratus) at beginning of watch. Around 10 AM
cumulus clouds began forming and cloud cover became as much as 75%, before
decreasing such that at the end of the watch it was only about 35%.
Temperature went from 12-16 C.

Raptor Observations:
The largest daily count of migrating hawks since 2024. Close to 20 of the
total count probably could not have been seen by me from my vantage point
(due to distance and/or height above the horizon)., but were observed by
Ben Samgochian. Best bird was probably an immature Peregrine that flew at
eye level across the Rock in front of us less than 25 feet away.
Non-migrating -- 1 BE (imm); 1 CH; and 4 RT (at least one immature and one
adult)

Non-raptor Observations:
one Northern Flicker and two Ravens

Predictions:
Hopefully, today's strong winds blew birds toward the coast and with NW
winds most of tomorrow we may have an even bigger count than today.
