Good morning,
Some time ago around end of August, I posted here (and also on WhatsApp) about White Tailed Kites at the grassy areas adjacent to the hangar at the former MCAS Tustin (see here: https://groups.io/g/OrangeCountyBirding/message/19502 ).
Earlier this week during the early evening, I was in the car park of the Stater Brothers supermarket on Kensington Park Road, which backs onto Tustin Ranch Road, I noticed a couple of White Tailed Kites flying northwestbound. I wondered where they were heading to, and yesterday evening, I saw 5 in quick succession flying over my house in Santa Ana (Madison Park area), coming from the Tustin direction and continuing west-northwestwards.
Might there be some location along that trajectory that could be a potential roosting site? I'm not sure how far they'd travel. It seems that they use the Tustin site as feeding grounds, and not necessarily for roosting.
