Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Balboa Park - Yellow-green Vireo, Tropical Kingbird
Hi all-

I had a nice walk around the central area of Balboa Park this morning - the weather shift made it a bit more pleasant out and seems to have brought around a bunch of new arrivals. Most interesting were a Yellow-green Vireo and a Tropical Kingbird, both in the Zoro garden. The Kingbird was mostly perched high up in a fig, and the Vireo spent the whole ~10 minutes I watched it in the one flowering coral tree with two Western Tanagers here: 32.7312, -117.1480. Another thing that has seemed interesting is that the Willow Flycatcher I first had in the big fig tree in front of the museum is still there, largely sticking to the same part of the tree. I think of them as a bird that moves pretty quickly on migration, so it will  be interesting to see how long it sticks around (to me).

Here's my checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S400573940

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
