Appreciate everyone’s feedback re: the UNK Collection!
Hello Paul,
Thanks so much for your support of the UNK Birds Collection. I'm just letting you know that I have personally spoken with the Senior Vice Chancellor, Dr. Julie Shaffer, and she has assured me that there are no plans to remove any of our natural history collections (birds, insects, and plants) at UNK. These collections will continue to be housed in a new area once renovation, and new building plans are finalized. No renovations or even preparation for new buildings will begin any sooner than Summer 2027, and even this timeline is uncertain. Dr. Shaffer is currently out of town at a meeting but will also share the community support for our UNK natural history collection with the Chancellor's cabinet. Again, Dr. Shaffer emphasized that there are zero plans to remove natural history collections at UNK and that these will continue to be maintained at UNK in the future.
Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Best wishes,
Letty
