Subject: [pen-bird] Painted Bunting on Pillar Point Bluff
Last night at 5:36 I looked out our kitchen window at birds feeding behind our house and saw a green bird.  I took one clear photo before it disappeared into the bushes.  It turns out it was an immature or female painted bunting--not a bird normally seen here.  From what I read, the bunting's normal range is in south-central and south-eastern United States, wintering in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.  I'll post again if I see it again today.  Avis
