Observers: Guitar Dave
Visitors: No visitors today at the north lookout other than Guitar Dave on the overtime shift.
Weather: 58-71 degrees F, bluebird skies WNW wind getting up to 24 mph. The wind brought in birds but also knocked down the owl pole, and I had to do some pretty heroic bouldering to rescue the decoy.
Raptor Observations: Bald eagle (8): 1016a x3, 1016i, 1244i, 1414a, 1449a, 1549u Golden eagle (1): 1244i
A juvenile bald eagle and a 2nd-3rdish year golden back to back was really cool. Yesterday's evening peregrine flight came back for an encore as well, starting around 5pm local time just like before - thanks Guitar Dave for coming and picking those up. With similar winds tomorrow, is a threepeat in the cards...?
Non-raptor Observations: Good junco, blue jay, and tree swallow flight today. Got great looks at a male black-throated blue, plus a little fight between a flaring ruby-crowned and a still-colorful Cape May was fun.
Predictions: Sunny, with a high near 69. West wind 5 to 15 mph. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Lehigh Gap Nature Center (<mail...>) Bake Oven Knob information may be found at: www.lgnc.org
