Tom Momeyer

Visitors:
122. During the quiet times between birds, lots of great conversation with
visitors from both near and far!

Weather:
Sunny skies with temps beginning chilly and gradually rising to a pleasant
fall day. Winds out of the southwest all day with a slight breeze.

Raptor Observations:
It was a trickle of birds today, somewhat expected for the weather
conditions. First birds snuck in just before noon, with a handful of birds
each hour after that. Peregrines were moving in decent numbers, with one
that appears it might roost on the rocks at North Pack overnight. A few
late broad-wings were a nice treat, too.

Non-raptor Observations:
The empty early morning skies were periodically broken by flocks of geese.
One Snow Goose was observed moving within a large flock of Canada Geese.
Other than that, the usual suspects for birds around the watch; a
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, juncos, and White-throated sparrows. A diminutive
ladies' tresses orchid was in bloom along the path to the hawkwatch. Keep
your eyes open for it if you visit!

Monarchs: 1/837
Blue Jays: 0
Geese: 197

Predictions:
Winds shift to the west tomorrow, with a slight northerly component. If
there is a bit more of a northerly component than forecasted, it could be a
good day, but either way some birds should be on the move so long as it's
not raining.
