Visitors: Lots of leaf peepers but just the beginnings of some color to see. Won't be long with these cool nights.
Weather: Clear crisp morning with a 5-8 mph S wind. Mid-day the wind became more SW and slowed to 1-4 mph. AM hrs saw low fog in both valleys, clear on the ridges. The Lewistown half of Ferguson valley was blanketed and didn't clear until 930. Forecasted stronger winds did not appear at Jack's.
Raptor Observations: AM raptors were all eye level to the south at a distance. There may have been some taking a low route out of view. A few were spotted just above the guard rail. First bird, 8:35am, Sharpie.
Non-raptor Observations: Happy to see 6 more Monarchs! When the winds died back the bugs ramped up. Lanternflies, Stink bugs and some gnats made the last couple hrs unpleasant. Yel Rumped Warb, 4 Red Headed WP, Golden crowned kinglet, RB Nuthatch, Phoebe, Brown headed Cowbird, N.Flicker, Downy, Hairy, several Robins, and the other usual locals. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Darrell Smith (<oleagleye...>)
