Thanks Paul for letting us know.
Tex was my unofficial advisor at Luther and his Animal behavior class
changed my college direction. I took his January term Ornithology class
trip to Texas my Senior year and it’s one of those memorable life
experiences. We saw lots of great birds and found some rare ones by calling
into the rare bird hotline. I learned a lot about bird identification and
behavior from him as well as how to “pish”. We were required to keep a
journal for our trip and although he didn’t really care for my “telescopic”
style of writing, I’m really glad he had us do it. It’s now a keepsake and
I’ve been able to put most of the birds we saw into eBird.
One of my entries reads “I think that this will be a good significant
moment in my life. I will be a hopeless birder from now on. It would be
nice to have a job where I could do this.” 😂
Although, I didn’t get a full time job in birding I have done quite a few
bird surveys where I was paid and I’m for sure a hopeless birder. 😂
Thanks Tex! Fly with the birds!
