Subject: [sbcobirding] Goleta Birding Oct. 6
Yesterday I checked several locations in Goleta, starting with Lake Los Carneros at sunrise.  Still the best time of day to visit this park and enjoy the lake waking up.  I only birded the road along the dam.  I got great views of the continuing American Bittern and a brief look at the Marsh Wren I found at the west end of the dam yesterday.
My next stop was Bella Vista Open space where birders already had the female Williamson's Sapsucker (found by Ryan Seppala on Oct. 5) in good view.  After thatI birded Evergreen open space, which was surprisingly dull.  There is still some water in the draw below and north of the main path, but no birds were using it even though it was quickly getting hot.  My final stop was Winchester One which had a lot of activity, but most of it by yellow-rumps.
