Hello all,
At about 5:50 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, I found a Dickcissel in first winter plumage (maybe a female) at Carmel Valley Community Park, in the grass near the large tree in the northwest corner of the lower section, about here:
(32.948702,-117.235671)
Around sunset, the bird flew into the nearby tree and then went back and forth to the ground a couple times. When I left, I think it was still in the tree.
