Visitors: 12
Weather: Sunny without a single cloud the whole day. Light to moderate northwest winds. Cool in the morning becoming pleasant.
Raptor Observations: Moderate migration. Tough spotting with the blue skies, but some nice looks at migrants and locals.
Turkey Vultures were most numerous with nearly fifty. A moderate Accip flight with 24 sharpies and 12 Coops. Eleven kestrels and two Merlins. Good Bald Eagle activity but only five counted as migrating. One Osprey. A handful of Buteos including one broad-wing.
One memorable moment was when a group of Black Vultures crossed low in front of us flapping frantically followed shortly after by three adult Bald Eagles chasing each other.
Predictions: TOMORROW: Sunny. High near 70F. Winds SSW at 5-10mph. Similar to today except a bit warmer and a switch to southerly winds. Conditions are good for raptors to be active, but the less favorable winds may slow down migration. Spotting high raptors will be difficult. Expect light to moderate migration.
THURSDAY: Mainly sunny. High 77F. Winds W at 10-15mph. Expect moderate migration.
FRIDAY: Sunny. High 71F. Winds NW at 5-10mph. Expect moderate to good migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Ashland Nature Center information may be found at: www.delnature.org
