Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Oct 05, 2026 08:18 by Rebecca Coulter
- Lake Los Carneros Park, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.84975&<ll...>,-119.84975 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S399538377 - Comments: "I’m about 90% sure of the ID on this silent bird. Viewing through the scope, the bright yellow breast did appear to go right up to the throat rather fading into a gray upper breast as in Cassin’s. Slightly forked tail appeared to be brownish, no white outer tail feathers as in Western. The only thing really hanging me up here is that the bill appeared to be not as robust as I have seen before in Tropical. But because it was some distance away, and there was some heat shimmer through the scope, I am fairly comfortable calling this a Tropical."
