In case anyone is headed out to Devil’s Tower soon, there are at least four (possibly more) Lewis’s Woodpeckers having a feast on the oak acorns in the picnic area next to the prairie dog town. There are quite a few B-B Magpies as well, always looking for a handout. I observed some interesting interaction between one of the Lewis’s and a Magpie: What looked like the two playing together was probably either the Lewis’s trying to steal the Magpie’s cached acorns… or vice-versa! Great observations. We only had the iPhones with us, but they should offer some good photos.
