Subject: [sbcobirding] Goleta Birding Oct. 4
I checked out Lake Los Carneros at sunrise, hoping to see the American Bittern but it did not show today.  Waterfowl are returning to the Lake, including one male Ringed-neck Duck.  Best find was a Marsh Wren taking a dustbath on the dirt path that runs along the dam fence.  It was doing so just in front of the green trash can at the most westerly end of that path.
I moved on to the Tech Park where I found the continuing Blackpoll Warbler in the northwest corner tipus of the central parking lot.  There was a lot of activity in the tipus in the western lot, but nothing especially rare--hermit and continuing female Black-and-white Warblers were the best of the lot.
Yellow-rumps have returned with a vengeance.
Florence Sanchez
