Hi Birders
Thank you to the 4 birders for reviewing my photos!
Here are their opinions with their initials:
TB, AV, DC Western Warbling VireoLC Orange-Crowned Warbler
I was thrown by Sibley's length for the warbling vireo of 5.5 inches. It seems they can go down to just above 4.5 inches; my bird was right around 4.5 inches.
Happy Birding,

Hi Birders,
My daughter found a dead bird in our front yard. I took some pictures and was a little baffled. At first I thought it was a vireo as the bird has a small hook at the end of the bill. The only candidate would be a red-eyed vireo but the bird is smaller (4.5 inches). I know orange-crowned is common around our house and is quite varied but this bird does not fit well any of the drawings/photos of OCs that I have come across.
I imagine I can not post a photo here? If anyone has a minute and is willing to take a look, I can send a photo.
Regards,
