A SABINE’S GULL was at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera from October 1-3.
Three more SABINE’S GULLS were at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on October 2.
A MANX SHEARWATER was offshore south of San Pedro on September 27.
Up to six NAZCA BOOBIES were offshore in the area south of San Pedro on September 27.
Two COCOS BOOBIES was south of Long Beach Harbor on September 27.
WESTERN CATTLE-EGRETS included one continuing at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera through October 2 and one at Silver Lake Reservoir on October 27.
A WILLIAMSON’S SAPSUCKER continued at Veteran’s Park in Sylmar through September 28.
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS were at Willow Springs Park in Long Beach on September 29 and at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach from October 1-2.
A LEAST FLYCATCHER was on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) on September 26.
Always rare in the county, dozens of PINYON JAYS continued away from expected areas, with eleven at Jackson Lake on October 1, eighteen at Table Mountain on October 2 and four near Baldwin Hills on October 2.
CLARK’S NUTCRACKERS continued to be seen away from expected areas in the San Gabriel Mountains, on the coastal slope and on Santa Catalina Island.
YELLOW-GREEN VIREOS continued at Loyola Marymount University in Westchester through September 27 and on Santa Catalina Island through September 28.
EVENING GROSBEAKS continued to be reported, with birds at Table Mountain, at Mt. Gleason, at Charlton Flat, at Barley Flat and at Mt. Wilson this past week.
A LARK BUNTING was at the Ferraro Soccer Fields in Glendale from September 30-October 1.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was a Ballona Lagoon in Marina del Rey from September 26-30. Additionally, two to three were on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) from September 25-26.
A GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE continued at the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail (usually by the south end of Monte Verde Park) in Lakewood through October 1.
An ORCHARD ORIOLE was on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) on September 25.
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH continued at the Zuma Creek mouth in Malibu through September 26.
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS included a bird continuing at Ladera Park through September 27 and one in South Pasadena on October 2.
A TENNESSEE WARBLER was on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) from September 26-28.
A LUCY’S WARBLER continued at the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood through October 2 just north of Carson Street.
An AMERICAN REDSTART was at Apollo Park in Lancaster on September 26 and another continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through September 28. One was in the West Adams area of Los Angeles on September 27.
A NORTHERN PARULA continued at Ladera Park through September 27.
Another NORTHERN PARULA was in Signal Hill (North Side Trails) on September 26.
A MAGNOLIA WARBLER was on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) from September 26-28.
A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through October 2 (in the riparian strip near Picnic Area #2).
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLERS continued at Ladera Park through September 26 at Pt. Dume also through September 26.
A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) from September 26-27.
A PALM WARBLER was at the Los Angeles National Cemetery in Westwood on September 29.
Up to two ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS were on Santa Catalina Island (Avalon area) from September 25-27.
A SUMMER TANAGER was in Rolling Hills Estates through October 1.
