Subject: [birders] woodpeckers
Yesterday I had Downeys and Red-Bellied woodpeckers visit.  The Flickers left my yard weeks ago.  I saw all three species feeding young this year.  I only saw one each Red-Bellied and Flicker, but judging by the succession of rust-colored head feathers that appeared at the suet feeder, there were three different broods of Downeys this year.
We also had a successful nest of Chimney Swifts.  I only found one egg shell in the fireplace.
