Bake Oven Knob 2 miles North of Germansville, Pennsylvania, USA Daily Raptor Counts: Oct 01, 2026 -------------------------------------------------------------------
Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Andre Vu
Observers:
Visitors: 12 visitors today, and every single one complained about our brown marmorated friends.
Weather: Light rain to begin the day, cloudy shifting to mostly sunny later. 65-73 degrees F, light south wind.
Raptor Observations: Raptors were loath to move today. Spent a few hours twiddling my thumbs in between the bursts of activity when the sun was out.
Non-raptor Observations: Was greeted by a BELTED KINGFISHER calling repeatedly from the top of the knob this morning! Upon closer investigation, it was perched in a snag in the south woods, and seemed to resume southbound migration when it saw me. Stinkbugs were even worse today, ants slightly better. I also found a groundhog's den right off Church and Bake Oven Rd. on my way out.
Predictions: A chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Lehigh Gap Nature Center (<mail...>) Bake Oven Knob information may be found at: www.lgnc.org
