A Belted Kingfisher family was seen at Almaden Reservoir this morning. A
female and 2 young were photographed on the rocks and the male
chattering upstream.
I also came across very late Acorn Woodpecker nesting. I heard the
nestlings call as I passed through the second cattle gate at the New
Almaden entrance to Rancho San Vicente. Adults were feeding a nestling
shown in my poor photos. Also here was a Say's Phoebe, Am. Kestrel, Cal.
Quail, Ruby crowned Kinglet and White crowned Sparrows. Forty Wild
Turkey's were seen feeding in a field.
