Yesterday, Sept 30, was a good day for birds in the yard. In the morning I saw the stems of a monarda patch constantly moving, telling me that a warbler was most likely in it. And, sure enough, up popped a Connecticut warbler that stayed out in the open off and on for about 10 minutes. It was still around in early afternoon when Dave DeReamus came and saw it. Other hotable species seen included a scarlet tanager, the first white-throated sparrow I've seen this fall, a Lincoln's sparrow, a Tennessee warbler that Dave got photos of, and two ruby-throated hummingbirds.
