Greetings,
Two of the checklists from last week's hotspots yielded multiple rarities!
At San Luis Rey Mission, a Plumbeous Vireo and Red-breasted Nuthatch were
documented among the 47 species list by Sally Veach and Patricia Langen.
The other, in San Bernardo Valley, a 2 hour, 1 mile list by Steven Lima,
included a Common Ground Dove, two Northern Red Bishops (only the second
report in the county this year!), and a Brewer's Sparrow, as well as an
unexpected for the area White-breasted Nuthatch.
Next week, thanks to our diligent efforts up to this point, five hotspots
just need this one week to be complete! Four are right along the coast from
La Jolla to TRV, and one is way out near Julian. Many others are also close
to completion, including a Cuyamaca hotspot, that would be good to check on
anyway to document the current montane irruption.
