All CBCs are a citizen-science endeavor with the primarygoal of counting all individuals of each species of bird detected in a 10mile diameter circle on a single day.
The Crystal Springs count circle stretches from theBay to the Coast and from Burlingame in the north to Redwood City inthe south. Año Nuevo includes the coast and up to Sam McDonald Park andfrom a piece of Big Basin to San Gregorio Road. The counts include alltypes of habitats and terrain - some require lots of hiking, some coverareas with lots of redwoods but few birds, some mean you have to know yourshorebirds well, some are flat, some strenuous, some urban, with most openspace - there is something for everyone.
I’d like to invite you to participate this year. We need alllevels of experience, from beginners willing to be tabulators and spotters, tothose of you with experience, whether you have counted with us in the past ornot. Â
