As he said, the bird was at the start of the dam right after you pass the first parking lot entering the park. And lo and behold it was there (with about a hundred Ring-billed Gulls)!
My husband and I observed the bird at 10:30 yesterday morning (we looked earlier, but it wasn't there yet). After the first nonproductive pass, we moved on to the marina and saw a Black Vulture on the way plus an Osprey.
There were a couple of terns on the buoys just past the marina office that I thought (originally) were Gull-Billed Terns, but I'm pretty sure they were nonbreeding Forster's Terns. My photos are too grainy for a positive ID.
