Visitors: 36 including young birder Gavin, and Esther.
Weather: Lingering moisture from the past weekend's Nor'easter dominated the day, with low clouds, fog, and mist socking in the summit until around noon. Light winds from WNW/NW most of the day. Ceiling lifted to about 2,500' until a wall of cloudy mist came in around 3 pm to shut us down early.
Raptor Observations: Osprey was the first bird of the day just past noon, causing much excitement. Sharpies showed a sign of movement in the afternoon as the ceiling allowed them to lift. They seemed extra feisty today with each other.
Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jay migration was in full swing today with 163 silently passing low over the summit in small groups of up to about 30 at a time. Later September migrants included Pine Siskin, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and White-throated Sparrow, in addition to just a few Yellow-rumps and a small numbers of assorted songbirds.
Predictions: The sun may return, and Wednesday looks like the pick of the week!
