For those coming to look for the Prothonotary Warbler and the Ovenbird seen
yesterday I have some information on the location. It was foggy last night
so it’s certainly possible that yesterday’s birds are still there today.
For those going into Pecho Willows, please park on Pecho and access the
trail that meets Pecho near the intersection with Henrietta. The neighbors
on the west (Solano side) do not want people parking there. The main trail
from Pecho Road is pretty clear. There is a side trail to the left early on
that goes toward the golf course fence. There is a another side trail under
a leaning tree to the right toward the muddy bay edge where waterthrush
have been seen in the past. The main trail winds to the back of the lot and
turns left toward the golf course near the back. The trail along the golf
course fence is not as obvious and it goes all the way back to the first
side trail to the main trail near Pecho. The redstart was very active and
was all over the lot. The Prothonotary was much less active and
methodically feeding in the willows along the golf course fence. The
Ovenbird was more skulky and seen more toward the middle of the lot where
trails are slight. Please do not go onto the golf course at any time and
try to stay relatively inconspicuous along the golf course fence since the
Pecho lot is owned by the golf course. Please do not bird along the fence
with the house at the back. Watch out for ticks and poison Oak. Thanks.
