It's that time of year when rare and unusual birds are moving through southcentral Alaska - a fun time to be birding!
Shortly after 6PM this evening I flushed up a pair of MOURNING DOVES from the empty pond above Spring Creek beach, Seward. They flew across the 'pond' and perched briefly in a spruce tree before diving deeper into the cottonwoods behind. Pic attached.
Also, just before dusk last night, I refound the COMMON YELLOWTHROAT in the same place previously reported, and along with a group of other local birders, we found it again this morning - same area.
