Smaller, with long, pointed wings, no “hunched” flight posture. Uniform chocolate brown back. After a while it flew back towards Anacapa. Photos"

The bill appeared fairly short and slightly hooked. It awas actively foraging in the foliage, making short movements between branches and leaves. Good view through binoculars, but was unable to get a sharp focus photo."

Appeared uniformly dull bluish-gray in my bins. I did not see the white trailing edges on the wings or white outer tail feathers expected on Clark’s Nutcrackers."

Gray corvid with black wings with white secondaries. White in tail with dark above on central rectrices. Saw 3 west of the peak in some pines and 3 more east of peak in pines. At least a couple flew over the peak that were probably the 3 from the east."

- Comments: "very vocal individual hung around for about half an hour. initially flew into dead tree around 10, then kept flying to and from pine next to the com tower. great views through alex’s scope. could see chunked out beak, black wings with white patches, yellow chest, drab back. hung around until 10:24. very cool."

- Comments: "Seen from the lookout at the peak with group of birders. Perched on the large dead tree east of the lookout; flew back and forth from that tree to a large pine at the top of the peak behind the lookout, giving clear “teew” calls. Hung around the peak for about 45 minutes. Large and stocky; overall grayish with huge pale bill and white on wings. White patch at base of primaries clearly visible in flight. Photos."

- Comments: "Flock of 15-20 seen early but not well. Other individuals seen closer throughout the day. Males were paler overall than PUFI, lacked streaking on the side as in HOFI. Will add a poor photo and recordings."

- Comments: "At very top of Ranger Peak. Overall gray and dull Spizella sparrow with eye-ring, finely streaked crown, brownish gray auricular with weak edge, faint mustache, and no lores. Chipping or Clay-colored Sparrow would have bolder markings and lores (in case of Chipping)."

Stumbled i to this bird in the bare footpath area in front of visitor center. Warm, honey colored upper chest, thickly streaked back. Short, conical pink bill. Busy eating saltbush berries, after a few minutes it made friends with a grosbeak that joined it. At one point they flushed back around the cliff, but returned for another twenty minutes or so. Then they flew back towards campground, where I lost them."
