Last Tuesday I birded Ranger Peak and East Pinery in San Rafael Mountains. Best bird was a Brewer's Sparrow at the peak. Next best were 1 or 2, heard only, Clark's Nutcracker. Alas, no Pinyon Jay, so I was stuck at 6 corvids for the day. Other birds that caught my attention were White-throated Swift, Western Wood-Pewee, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Golden Eagle, Pacific White-breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and Western Tanager. Additionally, Merlin claimed to have heard Cassin's Finch, Black-throated Gray Warbler, and Black-necked Stilt.
