As I have reported before, I have a periodic pileated woodpecker visitor to the woods by my house. Sometimes it’s many weeks in between visits or even longer at least that I witnessed. The last couple of weeks I’ve been off and on working on a patio behind my house and almost daily I hear it chattering and being very vocal near the house. This is unusual and I’m curious if anyone has any ideas what this might mean. Anyway, it’s interesting to hear it and certainly a pleasure. right now it’s focalizing and will sometimes vocalize continuously for several minutes at a time.
