NEBirders, The first full week at the new location has gone well with an increase in numbers and diversity! Chadron Creek flows through the banding station which makes this an excellent spot for spotting migrating birds! Here are this weeks totals: Banded (40) * Hairy Woodpecker- 1 * Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle)- 1 * Orange-crowned Warbler- 4 * Wilson's Warbler- 2 * Red-breasted Nuthatch- 4 * White-breasted Nuthatch- 2 * Hermit Thrush- 3 * Swainson's Thrush- 8 * Chipping Sparrow- 5 * Black-capped Chickadee- 4 * Gray Catbird- 3 * Spotted Towhee- 2 * Brown Thrasher- 1 Recaps (2) * Black-capped Chickadee- 2 The station will be open this week Tuesday through Saturday (weather permitting) and is now located at the Campground trailhead across from the tennis court in Chadron State Park! This is an exciting time to come visit the brand new location and see what birds stop by! Anyone is welcome to visit while the nets are open from 6:30am-12:30pm (weather permitting), hope to see you there!
