Hi SFBirds,
Travis, Ryan Lemon, and I stopped at the course, starting from the
clubhouse, on our way to the Round Up at Battery Godfrey. We checked along
hole 18 and 17 before reentering on El Camino and making our way along the
driving range (37.784431, -122.494898).
The VESPER was seen at the bottom of the hill, then flew up along the north
edge, and then appeared to fly and land on the fairway two holes to the
south. We were limited by time and golfers so didn’t check other holes for
Spizella sp.
This is the first new sparrow I can recall from the golf course, other than
the Clay-coloreds and Lark last year, since I’ve been paying attention.
