Someone reportedly saw a Crested Caracara yesterday afternoon in the same general area where we saw one last year near Tuckerman in Jackson County. Several of us went this morning to look for it but have not been successful in relocating it.
Many of the fields appear to have been recently disked, with 100+ Turkey Vultures cruising overhead or standing in the fields. We devotedly checked every one of them. Red-tails, Red-shouldered and Harriers were also present.
If you go, the roads are gravel and very dusty. As far as I can tell, most if not all of the gravel roads are county roads.
